Benjamin Jones
I was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Temple Hills, Maryland (PG County). Growing up in Maryland, I was taught to prioritize education and treat others with respect. Outside of school, you could usually find me playing basketball or video games with friends from the neighborhood.
From 2004 to 2006, I attended Shaw University in North Carolina, majoring in Computer Science. I later returned to Maryland to continue my studies, focusing on C++ at a different institution. In 2008, I moved back to North Carolina and eventually settled in Knightdale, where I’ve made my home.
Avocatography

If you haven’t guessed already, the name of the business is a combination of Avocado and Photography. Why Avocado? A mentor suggested I name the business after someone or something meaningful — and that’s exactly what I did.

On April 16, 2024, my family experienced an unimaginable loss when our 11-year-old daughter passed away from an aggressive brain cancer. In honoring her memory, I chose to blend her love for avocados with my passion for photography. While she didn’t necessarily love eating avocados, she adored avocado-themed stuffed animals and collectibles — they brought her so much joy.

With the encouragement of my wife to pursue photography, the guidance of a mentor who helped me understand the industry, and the creative input of family and friends who believed in the vision, Avocatography slowly came to life.
